Unified Club

Unified Club Sponsors: Mrs. Marshall

Unified Club is a club that brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities for sports, games, community service, school events, and most of all, to have fun! 

Our meetings happen once a month during Warrior Time.

Westside Middle School sponsors one of the monthly district Unified activities, at Munroe Meyer Trunk or Treat in October, which is open to the whole Westside district and surrounding communities to attend. Other events sponsored by various Westside schools may include fishing, movie nights, and bowling, intended to partner students with and without intellectual disabilities.  These activities are subject to change each year. 

"Fans in the Stands" events are offered throughout the year where our club members and any members of the community can attend basketball games, volleyball games, football games, concerts, and plays together to support our Westside Middle School Warriors.  

All students with and without intellectual disabilities are invited to participate in leadership groups such as Student Council, all clubs, and extracurricular activities. Unified PE and Health provides teenage students with special needs access to a health curriculum and physical education curriculum that is both age and learning style appropriate with peer role models.

Unified Sports offered at WMS through Special Olympics Nebraska:

Unified Soccer: Coaches Kiersten Geiger  - September- mid October - Practices on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 at Westside Middle School, Games on Thursdays at 4:30 at LaVista Sports Complex

Unified Flag Football: Bob Mulligan- September - mid October - Practices on Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:00 at WMS, Games on Wednesdays 

Unified Basketball: Coaches Madie Brady, Chad and Katie Samuelson, Jeff and Jen Shannon,- Starts January - Practices on Mondays from 6:00-7:30 at WMS, Scrimmages at various local locations, Regionals TBD, State in Lincoln)

Unified Track and Field: Coach Jodi Marshall- Practices will be on Wednesday after school.  Meets to be determined.
