What’s Happening in Introduction to Health Science Class?

Our Introduction to Health Science class just finished up their unit on CPR and first aid. The school nurse came in and taught students how to perform CPR, the heimlich maneuver, use of epipens, and general care with first aid. Students were able to practice these hands on skills using mannequins and other resources.

WMS Student Survives Stroke, Inspires Thousands

Posted September 26, 2018 Sarah Weiss, a 7th grader at Westside Middle School, brought a crowd of several hundred people to tears Tuesday night at the Embassy Suites in La Vista.  She bravely shared her story of surviving a stroke just last year and her work ever since to raise money for the American Heart Association. “She was amazing!” said Dr. Enid Schonewise, Westside Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, who attended the Go Red For…

Team 7D Creates a “Team periodic table”

Yoga Instructor Visits Ms. Sahak’s World Religions class

Posted September 24, 2018 Jackie Wilber, a yoga instructor from Yoga Now visited Ms. Sahak’s World Religions class to give a short lecture about yoga history and teach a yoga session.  Students were able to engage in a Q and A session and practice Sun Salutation, breathing exercises and meditation.

i66 Students Learning From Work Study Placement Opportunities

Posted September 21, 2018 Students in the i66 program at WMS are being given the opportunity to help out around the building through work study placements. These placements are a way for them to be involved at school, work with a variety of staff members and other students, as well as an opportunity to practice the skills they are learning in the i66 program.
